Our breed profiles describe typical tendencies documented across each breed — individual dogs vary enormously with genetics, socialization, and training. Size, lifespan, and health-risk figures are ranges drawn from public breed standards and longevity studies, not guarantees for any individual dog.

Health screening matters more than breed averages: responsible breeders test for the conditions listed in each profile. If you're adopting, ask the shelter or rescue for everything they know about the dog's history and behavior — a mixed breed is a wonderful answer to most of the questions our profiles explore.

Accuracy of calculations

We implement well-known, publicly documented formulas (see the methodology section on each calculator page and public breed-standard guidance from national kennel clubs as applicable). Even correctly implemented formulas produce estimates that depend on your inputs and assumptions. Real-world outcomes vary. Do not rely on a single web tool for a consequential decision.
